Lailias Ski Center settled by the Hellenic Alpine Club of Serres in 1978 and since then it is constantly operating. The “Lailias Management Institution” company, with main stakeholder the Region of Central Macedonia, has handled the maintenance and operation of the ski center.
The center has a decent amount of good snow days, lasting 3-4 months (late November to mid-March) despite the mountain’s medium altitude. Its north orientation helps snow to be preserved for many months, so the ski season is long.
It is widely known for the Lang-lauf slopeand is considered, together with the Ski Center 3-5 Pigadia, the best ski centers in Greece.
The highlight of the Ski Center is the night skiing, every Saturday night, as the track is equipped with the necessary lighting.
Due to excellent weather conditions, you can visit the area all year round, for walking, sports, hiking and of course for skiing during winter. The international hiking trails E4 and E6 pass through Lailia.
The “Mountain Summer Camp” operates during the summer and is intended for children age 8 to 15. The shelter of the Hellenic Alpine Club of Serres accommodates the children, where there is a restaurant for their nutritional needs. Outdoor activities take place in Lailias forest. In the nearby forest, which is of high scientific and educational value, there are some of the rarest species of Greek flora and fauna. The forest is located in the heart of the prefecture of Serres. It is considered a controlled hunting area. It has an altitude ranging from 1600 m to 1847 m and 3 slopes with a total length of 1.25 km.
