Nico Lazaridi Winery

Nico Lazaridi Winery

Château Nico Lazaridi Winery

We chose the local community Agora in the Prefecture of Drama to establish our innovative and modern winery.

It was not a random choice, as we took into consideration all the necessary elements so as the production processing to take place as near the harvest location as possible. This way, our people will be able to produce fine wines and store them in ideal conditions, before they reach the consumers.

The winery, with its special architecture, is built inside the main vineyard. The building is fully adjusted to the natural environment and one can observe from it all the tasks taking place in the vineyards. Its state-of-the-art equipment guarantees the production of wine of the highest quality.

The plants occupy approximately 6.500 sq.m. and form a unified complex of buildings which includes vinification, production, bottling and storage areas, cellars for wine aging, hall for wine tasting and seminars, and finally the art gallery “The Magic Mountain”, which can be used as a multi-purpose room.

The winery’s architectural design, a project inspired by the local architect Yiannis Matsinis, depicts a “swallow tale”. It creates an internal patio, according to the traditional agricultural premises, offering to both employees and visitors a view of the surroundings.

The architect envisioned the building as a continuation of the skyline and landscape, from the tower’s observation post visitors can have a panoramic view of the vineyards and the wider area.

The most renowned brand name of the NICO LAZARIDI Winery is the white and red wine bearing the same name: Château Nico Lazaridi, while the Rosé Nico Lazaridi complements the family. The wine range of Château Nico Lazaridi also includes the single-variety wine Merlot Nico Lazaridi, while the wine families of Magic Mountain and Perpetuus are products of special aging. The newest selection Cavalieri Lazaridi includes the single-variety wine Assyrtiko, Malagousia και Merlot.

Furthermore, the company vinifies the Melissourgos wine which belongs to the category of naturally sweet wines, and recently the white semi-sparkling wine Solitaire. Here, at the Winery Château Nico Lazaridi all wines are labeled as Protected Geographical Indication Drama and Agora.

Nico Lazaridi Winery – Vineyard

NICO LAZARIDI vineyards in the Prefecture of Drama are surrounded by mount Falakro from the North, mount Menikio from the West, while at the north-east rises mount Pangeon – our Magic Mountain – which name is forever related to the worship of Dionysus, the Greek god of the grape harvest and winemaking.

Our vineyards, located in one of the most renowned and promising vine regions of east Macedonia, as well as Greece in general, are established among the local communities of Agora, Pigadia and Andriani, occupying approximately 80 hectares. 65 hectares of those are private vineyards, while there are about 15 hectares belonging to company associates.

The main vineyard, which is situated perimetrically from the Winery Château Nico Lazaridi, occupies 35 hectares.

The cultivated varieties are the following: Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Ugni Blanc (Trebbiano), Chardonnay, Muscat of Alexandria and Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Grenache Rouge, Sangiovese.

In its 30 years of experience in the wine field the company has tried various techniques concerning planting density, and has experimented, and still is, on a large number of varieties. Its main target has always been the long-term application of the best cultivation techniques, as well as the vineyard enrichment with varieties successfully adapted to the region’s terroir.

The Mackedon Winery

Pieria valley in the Prefecture of Kavala is one of the most fertile regions – in quality and quantity terms – in wine producing grape. Despite the fact that it is only a few kilometers away from the winery NICO LAZARIDI in Drama, we thought it was appropriate to locate our new winery there. It is built in the heart of the vineyard area, at the hillside of mount Pangeon, and more specifically in the local community of Platanotopos.

Our goal was to complement our wine varieties with products different from those produced in Drama, by taking advantage of the excellent region terroir.

The plants occupy 2.600 sq.m. and include vinification, production, bottling and storage areas, cellars, offices and a hall for wine tasting and other purposes.

The winery’s architectural conception focuses on a modern and minimal design combining contemporary and yet classic materials. The aim was the creation of a building in harmony with the landscape and the characteristic structuring of the area.

At the Winery Mackedon, the company NICO LAZARIDI produces the wine families of Lion d’Or Chardonnay and Lion d’Or Cabernet Sauvignon,The Black Sheep Semillon-Sauvignon and The Black Sheep Syrah, with screw caps type stelvin. Recently, a new category was added, the Queen of Hearts and the King of Hearts. Here, at the Winery Mackedon all wines are labeled as Protected Geographical Indication Pangeon and Macedonia.

Vineyard Pangeon – Kavala

Pieria valley, on the south of Pangeon Mountain and the south-east of Symvolo Mountain, is a blessed region, renowned from ancient years for its fertile soil and climate. Its hillsides, protected by the surrounding mountains, and the waters of Marmara river offered great cultivation potentials to the locals, and favored the production of grapes and other crops.

Nowadays, in Pieria valley lies one of the most famous wine-producing areas. NICO LAZARIDI Winery has established its vineyards in the fertile valley of the local community of Platanotopos.

The vineyard, which literally lies on the foothills of Pangeon Mountain, occupies approximately 8 hectares. The region has a long tradition in the cultivation of vines and as the winery collaborates with many local producers, production needs are met by long standing collaborations.

It consists of the white variety of Chardonnay and the red varieties of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon.
